emergency: crying girlfriend
just deleted some big presentation she needs to make tomorrow and emptied the trash. on a relatively new mac. anything we can do?

don't do anything more on that computer, go to different computer and google undelete. you can recover pretty easily.

[/ QUOTE ] 1) this is a mac 2) system restore doesn't affect documents, just programs/registry NT: try this http://www.prosoftengineering.com/pr...escue_info.php you can google osx undelete for a few cheaper alternatives that may or may not do the job. Again, DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE ON TEH COMPUTER THAT IS NOT DIRECTLY RELATED TO RESTORING THE FILE. kill any other downloads, etc also, don't be so hasty next time. the trash is a 'change your mind' bin, not just an extra hassle to delete files. don't empty it unless you have to |

Seriously, if you don't at least take a quick glance at the Recycle Bin before emptying it, you're asking for trouble. This is probably something you shouldn't tell your GF until some time has past. I bet its not what she's looking for. |

yeah i think gf is just unable to work things like computers or cars because i ran data rescue and it turned up some wicked old [censored] but not a single powerpoint file. there was this 100 MB 'extras' file that showed up but i couldn't find any way to open it.
