Default Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (un-expert review)

Just got around to finally watching this flick and I must say I was very surpised I enjoyed it so much. I am a big fan of the original (not sure where that would score on the gay-meter for a 26 year old single male) and was a little worried they would butcher the remake. However, I thought it was well done. I especially enjoyed the backstory that developed Willy's character. I was also pleasantly surprised by Depp, who is awesome in pretty much anything, but was worried he would be too over the top in this role. I think he plays it just right, which probably shouldn't be a surprise. Overall, it is a movie I will add to my personal DVD collection.

I loved the original, was kind of bored with the remake.

Depp is a bit too squeeky and gay and confusing.

Wilder was better as a druggy, mystical guy
