I 3 bet the turn smallish to like 25 or you could shove if you think villain is bad enough to call with ax of hearts or some naked heart draw. He can't be freerolling you since you have the 5 of hearts, and if he has 56 then thats just a cooler.

I think I'd lead the river for like $20 out of fear he'll check the flush card, but the sense I've been getting is that I've been guessing wrong in these situations a lot lately.

A turn 3-bet does seem worth considering since Villain will sometimes have Ax or some two-pair hand instead of a 5. However, if he doesn't have a 5, he will sometimes fold to a 3-bet, I'll admit.

I pushed on the river, silly move methinks, but after about 30 secs he called with a lone 5. I like Nick's idea of leading for ~$20 to make sure I get a call.

Anyone else like 3 betting the turn? I don't have much experience at this game, but it seemed fairly passive, what is the likelyhood that he raises the turn with hands like 2 pair or a flush draw?

Nah, I think open pushing is your strongest move. You can't look at the hand in a bubble but rather in a series and decide which play maximizes your EV the most. I believe open pushing is your strongest play because even though you wont get called that often, when you do get called, your playing for stacks. I believe virtually everytime he has the 5 he will call off his stack. For him to call with anything else you would have to bet a fairly small amount and I think even though it gets called more often, it doesnt make as much money over the long term
