PLO8 50 - Turn raise against laggy maniac?
UTG is 80/30/2.5 in 100 hands. Pound the turn?

Agreed. With position and no redraws I see no reason to play a big pot with this hand.

Re: PLO8 50 - Turn raise against laggy maniac?
Tough situation. Really depends on how likely you think it is that opponent will fold to a raise. With shorter stacks I'd lean more towards raising, but with the stacks as deep as they are there is the risk of getting reraised, and villain may be more likely to call because of implied odds.
FWIW I hate just calling here against a loose aggressive opponent. Someone who suspects you have AAxx is going to be able to use a lot of river scare cards against you, and may have quite a few real outs as well. If a T/J/Q hits and villain pots it, are you going to call? How about a heart? A 2? a 5? Your hand just isn't that strong... Against a really LAG player, raise > fold > call. Against a more ABC opponent fold > call > raise... I don't think calling down with marginal hands is a good strategy, and the only way a re-eval on the river is going to work out for you is if opponent was on a draw and decides not to fire another bullet. |

Re: PLO8 50 - Turn raise against laggy maniac?
Give up on the flop. Do not commit yourself like that.
AAK4 double suited is a great hand and the preflop raise is ok but when the flop comes what do you have? A pair of aces with no redraws. The turn is a clear fold IMO. There are straight draws, a low draw, and a flush draw, which you have none. And you're against a big bet with only 2 pair (not even top 2 pair). |
