Super big pot with KK and a ragged flop
Just encountered a hand in a very big pot. Players are loose:
Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 raises, HERO 3-bets, 5 folds, Button calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 caps, HERO calls, Button calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls. Flop: (21.5 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players) MP1 bets, HERO ?? My question is, do I try to protect my hand here, or raise for value? |

Re: Super big pot with KK and a ragged flop
I'd raise for value now.
The pot is so huge that even if you wait for the turn to raise in an attempt to protect your hand your opponents will be getting decent odds to draw. |

Re: Super big pot with KK and a ragged flop
You can't protect your hand here, people are getting odds to call with a hamster. It's probably a toss up with jamming this and just holding on and hoping your hand holds up.

Re: Super big pot with KK and a ragged flop
Lovely table. I would raise the flop. (But you might want to look at the conversion. Something is wrong with the flop action). I think a more interesting question is how to respond to a 3bet (which really hinges a lot on who treys). There really is no way to protect your hand too much in a pot this size, so value is the key.

Re: Super big pot with KK and a ragged flop
Grunch:
Preflop: As played, I like to keep note on Villain on what he 3 bet or caps with in what position so this is a note taking opportunity. Flop: Raise for value. If 3 bet, I would call and see what the Turn brings. I would love/hate to see A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |

Re: Super big pot with KK and a ragged flop
Lots of players are going to be calling in this pot raise and get your money in while you're most likely ahead.

Re: Super big pot with KK and a ragged flop
three things:
1. "My question is, do I try to protect my hand here, or raise for value?" these two things are both going to mean raising at this point, and they are not mutually exclusive. so just raise for both of these and other reasons. 2. please fix the conversion, im assuming 3 players checked on the turn? 3. who is the girl in your avatar? |
