Nixon Resignation Outtakes
Nixon resignation outtakes. He does not seem that bothered.
Nixon surprisingly casual about the speech he is about to give. Shows what a performer you have to be a successful politician. |

Maybe he's just really zen and is at peace with his decision.

Re: Nixon Resignation Outtakes
I don't really see why he shouldn't be relaxed or anything. It's not like he had just found out 3 minutes ago that he needed to resign. He came to his decision, and at this moment in time he probably has every reason to be relaxed since the ordeal is over with. He's just focused on the business of delivering his speech.
But ya, they are certainly performers. Interesting clip. |

[/ QUOTE ] I lived thru it all. I was 21 when he resigned. His performances reminds me of Bush I and his "Read my Lips! No New Taxes !!" campaign when he ran for prez after serving 8 years as vp. You would think, having 8 yrs experience as v.p., that he would know if it were possible to keep his promise. He certainly fooled me and the majority of Americans into believing he was telling the truth. His punk ass son didn't fool me though. |

Re: Nixon Resignation Outtakes
He had spent the previous days in a drunken stupor.
When you consider Watergate, Vietnam, Henry Kissinger, and Nixon's role in McCarthyism, he likely did more damage to our country than any other American in the 20th century. |

Re: Nixon Resignation Outtakes
Please, not every thread has to be about that, right?
Anyway, I can totally understand why he seems so relaxed in the clip. It's over, the die is cast. After what he'd been through in the preceding months (and years), he must have felt very relieved. I know I would, anyway. |
