Thinning hair: Maybe beat, maybe variance. Suggestions?
So,
I am 28 yr old and have receding hairline w/ thinning hair, especially in the front on the sides. Most of the older men on both sides of my family are bald, so I guess this has definitely been coming. Anyways, I am not really sure if I care enough about this to try any products (i.e. Propecia or Rogaine). Was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with these or any other products and whether they thought it was worth it? FWIW: Personally, I do not care all that much about my looks at all, except as it may effect my ability to interact with other people. I am already married and do not have any intentions of getting divorced anytime soon, so attracting members of the opposite sex is not a super paramount concern at this time. However, all else being equal going bald could effect future job prospects and employability. |

depends how you look at it.
on the plus side, if you polish your head well enough your wife could save money on mirrors. |

I use Propecia and it keeps my hair intact. It is pricey though (~$65 a month). Most insurance plans do not pay for it.

just shave your head, that was my solution and i've had long hair for at least the last 15 years.
Don't fight nature, you will just look dumb in the end. |

Re: Thinning hair: Maybe beat, maybe variance. Suggestions?
Propecia has some annoying sides due to it completely blocking DHT in your body. DHT is an important derivative of testosterone and plays a huge role in building and maintaining muscle.
If its just thinning/receding you could get some Nizoral 2% and give the laser comb a try. Nizoral blocks about 65% of the DHT from binding to receptors in your scalp, so it'll definitely slow things down while the laser comb will help regrow a bit for you. There is a thread over at Anabolic Minds(bodybuilding forum) that is pretty thorough and very informative. http://anabolicminds.com/forum/stero...revention.html You don't have to read all of it, but its a fantastic. BigVrunga is a good guy and if you post questions that you have after reading the thread he's great about answering them quickly. |
