$16 - Villains range?
UTG is a very good multitabling regular.
He has 8% ROI over 9000 games. He plays 'textbook' SNG and he knows ICM and high blind play. What is his range here and what range can I push over? Please answer both questions. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (7 handed) by Hand Converter CG MP1 (t2130) MP2 (t3865) CO (t820) Button (t1210) SB (t1520) Hero (t1690) UTG (t2265) Preflop: Hero is BB with **. UTG raises to t600, 5 folds, Hero raises to t1690 ** What range can I push here? **, UTG left to act |

Re: $16 - Villains range?
It's really going to depend on ranges, and I'm not sure good multitabling regular is enough to go on. It's going to be an edge case, and slight changes in his range will make a difference to you, and slight changes in yours (and everyone else's ranges) will make a huge difference to him.
About the widest you can shove, assuming no FE which seems appropriate here, is gonna be 99+/AK+. Maybe you can squeeze in 88 or AQs in some cases, but you'd need more of a read (eg, that he will actually fold on occasion) than you're giving here. His range should probably be something like 77+/ATs/AJo/KQs. I suspect most regulars aren't opening that wide, plus they probably shove the weaker hands some portion of the time so the hands that make it 3x probably skew bigger. |

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks for your reply. Is it just me or is his raise very suspicious? He has a 11BB stack, knows ICM and how to play and yet standard raises to 3x BB UTG. Why isn't he pushing? What hands would standard 3x BB raise from UTG instead of pushing and why? If (what I think) his raise is meant to lure people/pushes, he probably has a really good hand. |

Re: $16 - Villains range?
I don't know that it's inherently suspicious, he might be willing to get away from a hand vs a similar or larger stack than his, or not be paying enough attention, or whatever.
That said, I doubt a good player ever folds, and there's at least some chance his range leans towards big hands, so you do have to take that into account. Also, even good players will sometimes try to do action inducing stuff like min-raise or limp with big hands in this spot, so that probably balances things a bit. |

Re: $16 - Villains range?
I dont think his range is 77+/ATs/AJo/KQs
I would put him on like 99+ AQ+ at the loosest just to be safe. Im shoving pretty tight over him here, i would think maybe QQ/AK |

Re: $16 - Villains range?
Would he really raise 3x BB with 11BB stack from UTG to lay it down if pushed over?
That makes no sense to me. |

Re: $16 - Villains range?
A solid player is pretty much never opening 3x here UTG and then folding to a raise/push. His range looks something like TT+ AK. Push QQ+

Re: $16 - Villains range?
Well with 11 BB I think TT, JJ, and AK are being open pushed here a lot more than opening 3x. This is QQ+ a lot IMO.
