Loser/Winner
This is my first ever post here. Here's something that's got me stumped.
I'm an old poker player (stud, draw) But new to Hold'Em. I've purchased and read and re-read Sklansky's "Small Stakes Hold'em" and Lee Jones on low limit hold'em and Pocket Idiots Guide to Hold'em and Internet Poker for Dummies. I bought Wilson Turbo and have played 10,000 or so hands on it. I try to play tight-agressive in $1-$2 limit. After a while on Wilso Turbo I turned off "Advice" and have now played well over 4000 hands on my own applying principles learned from the books. I'm $700 ahead. BUT, then I go to Poker Stars $1-$2 and after 38 hours of play find myself down $400. I try to play the same on Turbo and on Stars and think that I have but based on results something sure seems to be different. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Loser/Winner
not enough experience to be a winning player yet. best advice is keep playing if u can afford the losses at 1-2 if not, lower the limit. stick with it. nothing is better than actual play.

Re: Loser/Winner
Yeah, 38 hours of play is not statistically significant. That being said, $400 is kind of a lot to lose at $1-$2. You might want to try playing lower limits and build your way up. I started at $.25/$.50 and suggest you do the same. Also, playing against the computer is worthless. Real players don't play like computer players. Finally, you're doing yourself a disservice by reading so many books before you have a feel for the game. Read one book, play a bunch of hands, and then go back and re-read that book, and then play a bunch more hands, etc... Too much information is exactly that - too much.

Re: Loser/Winner
Start posting some hands that you think may be questionable.
