JJ preflop situation 400NL
Button is 21/17/3 with an ATS of 36%
SB is sort of tight 19/15/3.5 with an FBB % of 80. I know he's in SB, but i believe it's a decent indicator for how well he defends his blind. What it do with jacks? Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $2/$4 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) SB: $402.50 Hero (BB): $382.00 UTG: $1,161.20 CO: $819.40 BTN: $394.00 Preflop: Hero is dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 Players) 2 folds, BTN raises to $14.00, SB raises to $52.00, Hero raises all-in to $382.00 Pot Size: $448.00 |

Re: JJ preflop situation 400NL
This is play is sux, he calls w QQ+ and fold anything else.. you will never be a favorit in this situation.
Reraise to 160, fold if he shoves. |

Re: JJ preflop situation 400NL
I fold JJ here like 70% of time unless i feel there light i would call.
Pretty sikk play to shove over a 3bet with JJ and have a man behind in question also |

Re: JJ preflop situation 400NL
from my experience AK snap calls this preflop as well so it can't be that bad

Re: JJ preflop situation 400NL
I'd think about 4bet to $145 and maybe fold to shove since at BEST you're in coinflip (to AK) or 4:1 underdog. This is a rele big shove and not 100% sure if I like it with just JJ vs TAGs.

Re: JJ preflop situation 400NL
From a philosophical point of view, 4-betting then folding is not good here. Given stack sizes, the 4-bet is almost never getting just called - they're folding or shoving. Your hand now plays identically to 22 or ATC for that matter. On the same note, 4-betting then calling results in an overall equity that would be near identical to doing it with 22, as you have similar expected equity against their presumed AK+/QQ+ ranges - and there's no reason to expect to see TT- here with any real frequency.
But of course there's a dichotomy as nobody would ever really suggest doing these sort of lines with 22, at least not as standard and for value - even though they have extremely similar expectations. So, aside from the issue that jacks look prettier than deuces, why would we play as such with jacks? |
