400NL 78s on button turn decision
I'm kind of in between moving up from 1 2 to 2 4 and wasn't quite sure how to play this turn, or mabye the whole hand. The UTG limper I've played with a bit before at 3 6 one time and I have about 250 hands with him running 26/10 so he limps quite a bit from what I've seen. The other villian is his first hand and my first hand playing with him, he posts in the cutoff and raises to 20, I decided to call with 78s and the button.
I hit second pair on the flop and wasn't giving the poster to much credit so I decided to float him here even though it was a pretty big bet. It got interesting on the turn after the utg villian called the flop bet also and they both check to me. Now I've picked up a flush draw and wasn't sure if I should check behind here or fire out a bet. If I do bet how much do you think is good? I definetly would've bet vs the poster but was worried utg may have been slowplaying a flopped set. So who likes a bet here and who likes to check behind and try to improve on the river. Vs Co I was pretty sure a 7 8 or spade would've been good, vs utg I was a little unsure. edit to include I was running about 23/18 Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $2/$4 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $514.30 UTG+1: $1028.40 CO: $400 Hero: $558 SB: $394 BB: $872.30 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG calls $4 (pot was $6), UTG+1 folds, CO raises to $18, Hero calls $18 (pot was $28), 2 folds, UTG calls $14 (pot was $46). Re: 400NL 78s on button turn decision
yes take the free card. What happens when you bet and get raised by the UTG player who you fear has a set. The only other play is to push in to try and win it there. But I still like the check and see the river play. I would suspect you are behind to the UTG player with a hand like AJs or maybe just maybe a J10s. Even small chance of 44. But unlikely JJ or 88. So checking is the safe route and the route that will net you the most money in the long run. They will not put you on spades if you catch and should pay you off or bet for you on the river.

Re: 400NL 78s on button turn decision
meh i usually check this but i def. see some merit in betting if opponents are decent because youre hand is almost never good in a showdown unimproved and youre line looks very very strong

Re: 400NL 78s on button turn decision
I don't play this level but just out of curiosity...
CO is probably weak and hero's ahead of him often, UTG's range is probably limited to a decent J or a straight-draw. A better hand would probably just lead turn, no? So - if that's correct - what's wrong in semi-bluffing here every now and then? It doesn't seem like a very big leak and there's a reasonable chance to pick up the pot considering that no one showed any strength ... |
