Yankees stealing signs?
I thought Yankees runners on 2b last night were obviously tipping off pitches and/or location. It started with Damon in the 1st inning with one out and Abreu up. On two consecutive offspeed pitches, Damon took a step back toward 2b. Later, when Betemit was on 2b and Damon up, Betemit touches his helmet (even little leaguers know this means heat). Damon hit that pitch all of 315 feet for a HR.
I wonder if word is getting out that the Red Sox can't or won't alter the signs when Matsuzaka is on the hill. I thought Tampa was also tipping of pitches/locations in both the Fenway series and Matsuzaka's start down there. I'm also surprised someone didn't get drilled for tipping off locations. |

Re: Yankees stealing signs?
If this is the case (I was at the game so not watching on TV), the Yankees aren't "stealing" signs -- the Red Sox are giving them away.

Re: Yankees stealing signs?
Nothing wrong with stealing signs. Part of the game. Just wondering if anyone else noticed it.

Re: Yankees stealing signs?
Stealing signs is common and basically accepted if it's done relatively low-key and by the players involved already.
Bush league: On-deck batter stealing signs. Reasonable: Runner on second stealing signs. |
