AQs blind battle
Wasnt sure what to do on the flop. I figured I would call cuz I didn't wanna fold a worse ace with a raise, and maybe he would 2nd barrell me on the turn hoping I had a weak ace he could get to fold, or maybe just think I had a smaller PP he could value bet. I wasnt sure what to do if he shoved tho, if he had should I Fold? Or in a blind battle like this with TP 2nd kicker am I just looking to get it all in? When the board paired I shoved since his bet was so small and I thought a weak ace might call hoping he had lots of outs to a chop

Re: AQs blind battle
no reads?
i raise a bit more pf. rest of the hand is fine, i think, though i can see an argument for just calling the turn. |

Re: AQs blind battle
since the board is so dry just call the turn. if there was even one flush draw or OESD out there i would shove.

Re: AQs blind battle
I like the way this hand was played. The pot is big enough that Hero should get called by all worse Aces. Actually he'll probably call off with just about anything.

Re: AQs blind battle
This looks good to me. An SPR of about 4.3 is probably pretty good against this opponent with this hand. Once you hit TPGK on the flop, you're going to the felt unless villain does something ridiculous like open-shoving. On a board that dry, I like waiting to the turn there.

Nerd,
1. Haven't I trained you over in Micro to never use "to see where you're at" as the reason for doing anything? 2. If you're addressing the man, at least capitalize his name. Yes, I know you mean it in the "posting blind" sense |

Re: AQs blind battle
hi Alobar,
You need to make a commitment plan on the flop. The board is dry, and as Mr. Wookie said, an SPR of 4.3 is usually pretty good for TPTK against most opponents. But you'll have to figure out for yourself how much you are generally willing to commit against these opponents' ranges. Assuming you're committed, you then just want to play the hand out postflop such that you maximize value from worse aces, as well as maximize "picking off a bluff" equity, and protect against draws. On the turn there are basically no draws whatsoever, so that's not an issue. So it just becomes a question of comparing whether he'll fire the river again if he's bluffing vs. if he'll fold to a big raise on the turn with a lot of hands vs. if he'll call with more hands on the river if you call the turn and then push the river. I probably like the latter best, particularly since there are zero scare cards that can come on the river to kill your action. -S |
