JJ v SB 3-bet
Villain here is 25/22, only over 150 hands or so, this is the first session I've played with him. He has 3-bet a number of times before, mostly taking it preflop or with a c-bet.
I played this session about 22/16 Thoughts on preflop play - 4-bet?, and flop decision appreciated. Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $1/$2 5 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $392.80 CO: $304.40 Hero: $216.10 SB: $423.50 BB: $63.30 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 folds, Hero raises to $7, SB raises to $25, BB folds, Hero calls. Re: JJ v SB 3-bet
If he has been an active 3bettor from OOP then I most likely 4bet preflop.
As played, I probably just jam. Too many cards you no likey. Not a disaster to make an inferior hand fold so the argument that only a better hand calls I don't think applies here. Welcome to the forum... |

Re: JJ v SB 3-bet
Shoving is your best option. Folding is not, IMO.

Re: JJ v SB 3-bet
yea folding here sucks, jam now or call with the intention of getting it in on just about any turn.

Re: JJ v SB 3-bet
I like just called 3-bet. A case can be made for 4betting pre but I prefer the call in position. Shove flop.

Re: JJ v SB 3-bet
arrrrrrrin. a 25/22's range vs a 22/16's range is pretty wide here just shove

Re: JJ v SB 3-bet
Ok thanks, what are people's estimates of the SB's range here? What is a typical 3-betting range for that type of player from the SB v a button raise?
By shoving I think I obviously get called by TT+, and I don't think I get called by anything I'm beating (is AT in his 3-betting range?). I'm shoving for 190 to win the pot of 100, so he needs to have a large number of hands he folds out to make a shove good here I think. |

Re: JJ v SB 3-bet
He doesn't need a large number of hands to fold out to make it worth your while if he calls with a large number of inferior hands, ie. Tx,FD,AK,random crap like A5s that he wants to gamble with etc....
