Interesting river card from O11
8-16 main game - usual cast of characters
I limp 77 UTG, MP1 limps, HJ limps, SB and BB come along 643 with two clubs Check, check I bet, MP1 calls and BB calls Turn is an offsuit Queen Check, I bet, fold and the BB calls again River is the 7 of clubs for a final board of 643Q7 with 3 clubs BB checks BB is a very tight and passive regular who plays 8-16 everyday. He is very straight forward and thinks I am totally FOS because I am very aggressive and maniacal from LP. Do I bet? If so why? |

Re: Interesting river card from O11
If he's passive and you play with him a lot, go ahead and bet-fold if you confident. If not, I'd check.
He's probably not passive enough to check the flop with a hand like T6, but he probably is passive enough to check a hand like T5. |

Re: Interesting river card from O11
Given the read this seems like a pretty routine bet/fold. He's clearly going to call with plenty of worse hands (and some better ones, i.e. baby flushes), and if he's passive & straightforward then he's pretty much never check/raising a worse hand. Actually, if he's that passive and straightforward he's pretty much never check/raising.

Re: Interesting river card from O11
Straightforward, in the game I play, = bet if you hit your hand, check if you don't. He checked the whole way. I play with tight/passives like this a lot, and they will (1) never, ever c/r, and (2) will certainly bet out here if they have a flush.
Now, the real beauty of betting here is that he may have a straight, and if he's REALLY weak he may even fold it with a flush board and facing a bet on the river. |
