NL50 I 3bet AK, cbet TPTK and fold to a turn push
This is a line check. First hand at the table. Standard? Or can I play this differently?

Looks good to me. I don't think you can really play it much different, especially if you two barrel sometimes.

I'd bet a little more on flop, and checking turn isn't bad.

I hate hate hate a turn check. You're letting him check behind, risking another heart rolling off, letting him valuebet you to death, etc. I play it the same way as OP, except maybe bet a bit more than 1/2 pot.

Re: NL50 I 3bet AK, cbet TPTK and fold to a turn push
If I bet more than half pot I can't fold. This is why I sized the turn bet that way.

Re: NL50 I 3bet AK, cbet TPTK and fold to a turn push
The way I see it is if you 3bet AK OOP pf you really have to speed up, especially when you get the flop you wanted.
So practically pot flop and if you get flat called make a 3/4 pot bet on the turn, since you started it the way you did villain pretty much has your range covered if he pushes turn. I think calling pf is better play unless you're quite sure villain is stealing or sth in which case 3bet is OK. By just calling you also disguise your hand and might manage to stack villain if you pair up on the flop. 3bet makes it way too ez for villain to play perfect . flame away |

Re: NL50 I 3bet AK, cbet TPTK and fold to a turn push
Hmmmmmmm...surprised everyone is totally happy with the fold. If we had the Ah, that's one thing, but my initial reaction was how odd villain's turn overbet was. Was there a timing tell here?
Dunno, something smells fishy. lol, but I am Spewmonkey in Chief, so a fold's probably good. |
