Over 20% of people in the US think the govt knew about 9/11 in advance
[ QUOTE ]
Friday, May 04, 2007 Overall, 22% of all voters believe the President knew about the attacks in advance. A slightly larger number, 29%, believe the CIA knew about the attacks in advance. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_c...acks_in_advance [/ QUOTE ] That's a staggering 60+ million Americans who believe so. The idea that the govt knew in advance is something that at the very least subsides with the let-it-happen-on-purpose theory. That's a staggering amount of people who believe their government is a criminal organization. Do we hear much about this in the mainstream media? No. Not at all. |

Do we hear much about this in the mainstream media? No. Not at all. [/ QUOTE ] Not much to report on. If evidence one way or another emerged, it might be news. But some pollster calling 1000 random people is not newsworthy. There's already more than enough "hey another poll of uneducated people!" that passes as political analysis and too little reasoned debate by intelligent, insightful people. |

Re: Over 20% of people in the US think the govt knew about 9/11 in adv
Haven't there been several popular movies about this? Weren't there many questions asked and broadcast in the media in the years following 9/11? This has hardly been swept under the rug.
[ QUOTE ] That's a staggering amount of people who believe their government is a criminal organization. [/ QUOTE ] Or elements of that government, currently in power. In the Nixon era, 100% of people believed their government was a criminal organization... BTW, how many people believe the moon landing was a government hoax? And since when is popular (or in this case, unpopular) opinion a measure of truth? |

I'm going to go find 100 people and ask how many of them believe the moon is made out of cheese. Or see how many believe in the tooth fairy. Reports to follow. |

Mr Chairman....I Propose!
Mr Chairman of the Politics forum....
I move that one have ***ONE*** official 9/11 conspiracy thread (and all its derivatives) per YEAR in the politics forum. Having one AC thread was a disaster but I think most of us in the forum would like a SINGLE 9/11 conspiracy thread. After a year, the thread might get clunky with 5000 Nielsio posts so we can allow him to start a fresh post on January 1st of each year. Any seconds? |

Haven't there been several popular movies about this? Weren't there many questions asked and broadcast in the media in the years following 9/11? This has hardly been swept under the rug. [/ QUOTE ] There haven't been many critical questions asked, no. A lot of pro-war on terrorism stories have been pushed - yes. But the news here is the amount of people who believe in let-it-happen-on-purpose. That on it's own is news; whether you believe if lihop (or worse) is actually true or not does not matter here. It would be equally newsworthy if people believed their govt was criminal for some other reason. Compare 20+% with voting and democracy. 20+% would be considered a HUGE movement. |

That's a staggering 60+ million Americans who believe so. [/ QUOTE ] Sigh. I doubt that the pollsters included children in their data-gathering. But you seem to have no problem including them in your figure of "60+ million". And believing that the US government had knowledge of a possible attack does not make the US government complicit. It's possible that many people who answered "Yes" in the poll felt that the US possessed intelligence of a possible attack, but did not know the date, the method of attack, the location of the attack, etc...etc... that would have allowed them to stop the attacks from occurring. |
