NL200 weeeeeeeeeeee, I CR you!
This is villan's 3rd orbit at the table. I have a good table image and playing TAG. Villan has seemed semi solid but a bit passive so far. My thinking for the turn CR was that the villan looked very weak here with the turn bet and that i would fold out pretty much anything but Qx or other monsters here.
Who likes my line on the turn? who thinks im risking too much to find out if villan has a v. strong hand against an unknown? villans range seemed like Qx, flush draws and 22-JJ PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) SB ($313.15) BB ($84.05) Hero ($263.65) MP ($220.10) CO ($229.65) Button ($224.45) Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero raises to $8, 2 folds, Button calls $8, 2 folds. Re: NL200 weeeeeeeeeeee, I CR you!
this play seems suspect because you lead out on the flop saying that you have a queen and something strong, and he just calls so his range could include a heart draw or a queen or some pair in his hand.
On the turn you check, after you showed strength on the flop. so if button was a thinking player why would he bet the turn without a queen or something strong when he can get a free card if he did have a flush draw or a pair. However he could be reading your turn check as weakness and put you on AK and is trying to take it down here. In most cases, I think villian here has Qx and is prob not going to lay down. I think also he might have a pair like 44-99 trying to take it down. Overall, I like the check raise because he is folding everything else except Qx and this is probably the only way you are going to win the pot. |

Re: NL200 weeeeeeeeeeee, I CR you!
If villain folds all his pairs and FDs, it's an +ev move. But that depends on how many of those hands he actually bets the turn with. I think most of the time he will check it through trying to see a river/sd. He probably has the Q here often enough to make this a losing play, since we have no redraws.

Re: NL200 weeeeeeeeeeee, I CR you!
If his Q cc range is AQ+, KQ+, a turn cr is not terrible.
But your read that he is passive makes me like it much less; he would often check behind with pp and fd. Your cb looks a bit weak. Why not fire a second, more powerfull barrel? Say 38$. TT-- would have a hard time calling, thinking you pretended to be weak on the flop. A set or a Q will most likely raise you. But then you would loose less than 1/2 compared to a cr. If he is on a strong flushdraw he is much less likely to push against a turn bet line, than a cr line. If he calls your turn bet with a fd, your hand has good EQ against his range. Given that he is passive, its not likely that he will try to bluff you off on a blank river when checked to. |
