I don't understand Doyle's 4th street check at all.

Re: Rail Bird hand from 1k/2k horse game. Deli meat thin 7th st VB
it's always very hard to judge a game and peoples reason for acting without any history or player data, especially on such a high level, shorthanded game, but it seems to me the 4th street check contradicts to anything the Stud chapter in Super System teach about the game, LOL

Re: Rail Bird hand from 1k/2k horse game. Deli meat thin 7th st VB
I think the 4th street check is because Doyle is a bit suspicious of BC failure to c-bet with a fairly strong board. He may be thinking that if BC is weak he's very weak, with something like 2 baby cards down, so that Doyle's not that vulnerable to a freecard. I think very few people would be going for a c-rz in BC's spot so I don't like it, but I think it's within reason. I think the 7th street play is very good but I wouldn't quite categorize it as a thin value bet. I think Doyle thinks there's a good chance he's ahead, but moreover he feels he won't be raised if he's behind (because he can represent a flush), and also if he's behind he thinks BC will bet anyway and he will have to call. What I don't get is the 3rd street play. Even if the 3rd street board were ideal for a steal by BC, would you still call with 9c6s7c against an 8d? |

The hand history is not complete and doesn't show the other players' up cards. I assume this is stud high. Texdolly may have views the complete as an ante steal and thought he had pot odds to call. This TexDolly is a real fish, so I am sure he makes a lot of strange plays. |

So do you have an answer to the question? And don't assume that because someone is supposed to be a good player everything they do is right. |

[/ QUOTE ] They are playing short handed and we don't have the full hh. He may think his oponent is on a steal or that he can steal the pot later. I am sure Doyle is aware of basic hand values. |

The question is whether you would call here given a favorable steal board for the 8d. Yes/No? |

Wow that's a lot of squirming just to avoid saying that Doyle did something that seems wrong to you. |
