no seriously? the lounge as a testing ground?
in the forum proposal gym thread its mentioned that OP and others should start posting work out threads (content now down in OOT) in the lounge as way to test the potential of the new forum.
this makes absolutely no sense unless the only purpose is to artificially boost lounge traffic. The lounge is a low traffic forum (intentially?) so why would moving threads from a high traffic forum (OOT) to a place where they will likely get 1/4th the views in anyway help to decide whether the forum has merit? I would think the process should look like this forum proposal in OOT to get popular opinion OOT mods give their opinion either in here or oot other mods also weigh in either in here, ATF, oot mat, ryan take in all information and make decision based on above. as you can see the lounge is in no way involved in my easy to follow process. thank you [censored] |

[censored],
Maybe The Lounge should be renamed to something like The Playground and then could be used as a place to test new forum ideas? |

Re: no seriously? the lounge as a testing ground?
Here's what Mat said:
1. "I think new off topic forums should come about because they get kicked out of the lounge in the same way politics, sports, and puzzles got kicked out of oot." 2. "It seems to me that those asking for new forums are in fact expressing distaste for oot. I want them to have a place to go." 3. "The best way to get a new forum in the near-future is to show me that these topics can take off in the lounge." Reference to ATF thread ps... The lounge is a mid-sized 2+2 forum... which is a much better testing ground for specific topics than a madhouse 1,000+ post/day forum where clear focused topics can't get any traction. |
