what to do on the river? Casino AZ 20/40
ok game at casino AZ. I was hoping for a game like the commerce, but I had no such luck. Two loose spots are making the game good.
I have been playing very tight. I raise in EP with AJo, Next to act 3-bets and loose spot calls in the SB. My read is the 3 bettor has a good hand. I think he views me as tight. Who know what SB has. Flop As Kh 6c check, check, 3-bettor bets, we both call. Turn: 3h check, check, bet, fold, I call. River: Qs a) check fold b) check call c) bet fold |

With the way you played it, I think you have to check call. I think you should have made a play for this pot earlier. How about bet the flop. If he raises you can call and fold the turn unimproved. If he calls, bet the turn and fold to a raise. I think on the turn you either win the hand or fold to a better one.

Re: what to do on the river? Casino AZ 20/40
It depends on why you called the turn. If you thought he was still firing with QQ, then the river sucks for you. If you thought he had JJ/TT, then you have to decide if he'll bet it on the river if you check. And will he call on the river if you bet?
But if he always had a better A than you, the river doesn't change things and I doubt you called the turn thinking he had AQ and hoping to spike a 3-outer. I think the turn is the spot to decide if you're beat or not, and if not, just call down. |

I agree with others, you have to make a decision on the turn. If you decide to call on the turn, you pretty much have to call on the river. Fold the turn and be done with it, or commit yourself to calling two big bets.

check/call is fine.
I'd need a very strong read on the player to check/fold this. |

Re: what to do on the river? Casino AZ 20/40
i would check/call. i have a hard time folding top pair decent kicker to a relative unknown HU on the end in a large pot for one bet in a live setting when he might think he can push me off of my hand because i'm "tight".

this might sound horribly weak, but i might check fold the flop. given your reads, you could be drawing to running jacks or running QT. since you called the flop, you should check fold the turn since the 3bettor is betting into two opponents who both called him on the flop. if he has queens, he can have my money (which he just drew out on the river anyway). |

yeah, check folding the flop would be horrible.

If you are going to chk/fold this flop, there is no reason to call another bet pf, first of all. Secondly, is there any reason to believe he is not 3betting TT-QQ (at the very least)?
