Hand vs. cts, draw + showdown value
I never know what to do in this kind of spot (the turn). I usually like check/calling, but have been advised that betting again is much better against a good opponent. Thoughts on both turn and river appreciated. Sorry for the mess but converter's down.

[/ QUOTE ]fire that person as your poker advisor. as for the river, v obv fold on paper, ESP since the rier was the 2s.... sure he could have like T8o or 33 but that doesnt mean u have to call. |

Re: Hand vs. cts, draw + showdown value
anyone like an open push on the river?
i was leaning towards a call but i don't really know, he could he could be vbetting 66,22,QJ,AQ and i have no idea how much he floats/bluffs. I like c/cing turn as well but would be interesting why betting is better against good oppoents. |

i bet the turn like 70% of the time. the way you got to the river, a fold is in order.

Re: Hand vs. cts, draw + showdown value
I think this really depends on how cts has been playing preflop. If he has been 3betting a lot then I would be more inclined to call this river because of the nature of his 3bet range (presumable, i dont really have any idea i guess) includes a lot of paint and I think if he has been pretty active pf 3betting etc then this is a pretty easy call.
OTOH you are playing your hand faceup against a good opponent which is not good and I think that you are going to have a hard time showing too much of a profit with this river call. I think these are reasons, like you said, why betting the turn is better than c/c. Given the nature of the board though and the fact that cts is playing lower here than usual (though he still plays good for the most part) I think I would make this call bc hes gotta be a little more likely to get out of line. |

Re: Hand vs. cts, draw + showdown value
He was calling me a decent amount in position, not out of line but noticably often. I also saw him showdown once that session when he just called my UTG raise with AK on the button. Also I didn't feel like he was 3-betting me light at all, so I guess I'd say he was relatively passive preflop.

why not c/r turn sometimes [/ QUOTE ]Actually I should say the guys who I discussed this with told me to mix it up between betting and CRing turn. I think a turn CR is ok here sometimes, but I feel like its better to CR other draws that have no showdown value and sometimes air in this spot (as well as occaisional big hands of course). |
