Default Re: Poker as a skilled gambling game that involves wagering skill

Rainbow, the big 'Push' as you call it over poker = skill is the games ALREADY recognized and played as skill, even at sites like AOL Cash Games. These are card games; Solitaite, Hearts, Spades, Free Cell and others. Erogo, Poker = Skill if these games are legally exempt as predominate skill games.

Do you really think solitaire requires ANY skill to play, other than clicking your mouse fast?

To view these 'mainstream' wagering skill games look under games at YAHOO!, MSN & AOL, they are under the skill or cash sections.

BYW, these wagering / gambling games are marketed right beside children's games, linked on the same page.

So much for the argument that children will gamble....

However, I hold little faith that there is a chance in the world that we can ever get the general populace, or more importantly the legislative and judicial bodies in this country, to say that the presence of a significant skill factor makes a gambling game into an non-gambling game.

Very good point.

Alas, a lot of effort is likely being wasted pushing the 'poker=skill, ergo it's legal' view.

Pick-pocketing takes a LOT of skill.
Haven't heard of too many House Bills legalizing it...
