Default Re: how many hands are dealt in the sunday million

Interesting question. I guess one way to calculate would be to check on how many tables are open at 15 minute intervals throughout the tournament. Take that number and multiply it by 1/4 of an average hourly hand rate (let's say 80 hands).

So it would start with about 800 tables (800x20), and keep falling down until there's just 1 table remaining. The tourney runs 9+ hours, so that means 36+ intervals where you need to count the tables.

Now for the "pulling numbers out of my ass" part, I'll guess that overall the average # of tables open during the tournament is 150. So I'll guess that 150 x 20 x 36 = 108,000 hands is maybe possibly somewhere remotely close to how many hands are dealt in the entire tournament.

If you were asking "if someone wins the Sunday million, how many hands will they have played", the answer is somewhere around 800.

(above randomnumberguessing was done with the $215 buyin version of the Sunday million)
