Well, let's look at me. In 2002 I was looking for a job whilst learning poker. I spent a while going to interviews etc, and had a really good poker month. I decided to stop looking and keep playing poker.
That's really just a case of fortuitious timing - it's not like I relied on my wits and hard work to get out of a problem, I basically got lucky. I know that and I know it's not going to go that way for me in the future.
I'm sure that most people have situations like that (perhaps better hidden) that show how a lucky break went their way and solved a problem for them.
