In any sort of fitness contest, I've found regular email updates to the group to be a pretty effective means of peer pressure.
I have two friends with whom every week we sent out an email detailing:
a) How much and how fast we ran
b) What other exercise we did
c) How much we drank
d) How many times we had crappy meals
This definitely helps me get back in the groove quicker anytime I slip a bit for a week or two.
