Default Re: Getting into the Seat....example satellite play (the last 20 hands

sherm how about the two shorties? what should their optimal strategy be?

[/ QUOTE ]

If I were one of the extremely shortest stacks I would first look to see how close I am to the bubble and figure out how many people I expect to bubble before me.

This often means opening up the other tables to see where the button is (esp. if you are in Hand for Hand). If you are extremely short (like 1-2BBs) you might be better off hoping that someone else gets knocked out before you do when the BB forces them in.

As I mentioned on the last hand in the example, the short-stack who open-shoved UTG made a huge mistake. Had he just folded he would have gotten a seat, but because he lost, the short stack in the BB actually got the last seat even though he also busted (b/c he had more chips to begin the hand).

I can't say that I have a ton of experience playing this short in satellites. By the time the bubble approaches I either have a big enough stack to fold into the seat, or have already busted. I do believe that is the optimal strategy.
