Default Re: How to play this better. 10NL.

Definitely 3-bet pre-flop, definitely. On the flop, you only need 33% equity to make calling correct. Sure, he could have K-Q, but that's only 9 combinations since you have a K.

There are a lot of hands in his hand range that he could play this same way. He could have A-J, KK, QQ, A-Q, or just be out of his mind. Sure, if he has K-Q, you're only about 25% to win + 10% to tie, but given his range, you easily make up the rest of your equity against the hands you're ahead of.

If you re-raise PF, he might lay it down. Not everyone will, especially if he raised with it PF. But maximize your equity and get money in while you're ahead. PF, you're ahead with AK often enough to have no reason to just call with AK.

If you raise to $2 (could go $1.50, but with a limper and more people to act behind you, I'd make it the 4x rather than 3x. So, now, if he calls, the pot is $4.25 and you have $6 left. It makes committing a lot easier.

Edited b/c I missed the FD, and missed that the other guy had 8.15.
