This is so totally standard for freshman girls. There is always someone back home that they haven't moved on from, and they like other guys but they play this game of emotional ping-pong in their heads and if you aren't the guy she keeps coming back to, you are on the wrong end of it.
Trying to win a girl like this over is incredibly -ev because the guy on the other end can undo whatever ground you make by showing her the slightest bit of attention. This is the kind of situation you are in, and it really isn't worth it. Don't waste your time with girls like this, find the easy party sloots or a single girl that is actually lookin. Introductions through friends ftw if you are awkward with this kinda stuff, no biggie.
