There is no reason or purpose beyond hurting the animal for your own self interest. I suppose you're also in favor of a guy hacking off his cat's ovaries and uterus because it makes him uncomfortable to think she'd ever want to procreate? I mean, it's not like she really needs it to be a functioning cat, right?

Poor example, IMO. Happens all the time. Why is one "mutilation" while the other is common place, if both cats live a perfectly normal and healthy indoor life after either procedure?
