You are very lucky you had lots of outs here. Porbably 95% of the time you are drawing to a straight and even then, the potisn't giving you enough to call with only 8 outs.
1.78:1 to call, you have 8 outs in the most likely best case scenario, so you would need to be getting ~ 5.75:1 to make a call correct.
