Chicago , that's fine and I do think a 2x raise can be a good strategy but not always .

The point I'm trying to make is that if 3x raises otb has been working well in the early stages and that your opponent has not made any significant strategy changes , then there is nothing wrong with continuing using the same strategy .

Also as I mentioned in your Pooh-bah post , that if I hold k-7 and I know my opponent would call me with hands like 7-5 offsuit , etc , then nothing is stopping me from raising 3x the bb . In fact , if he's calling in the bb with a wide range of hands , then it's imperative you make larger raises .

You may want to read a similar post in the poker theory forum about this exact question . Almost all the poker theorists agreed that your pre-flop raises should almost always be predicated on your opponent's tendencies more than anything else ;even more so that the value of your cards .
