Right, I should have mentioned that I tried making the Jack Rose with a cheap apple brandy and not true applejack. I'm going to use Laird's or a decent apple brandy next time.
I guess a true Jack Rose uses applejack, but apparently applejack is just apple brandy + neutral spirit so it seems to me like substituting a decent brandy should be acceptable, right?
