Good catch jay_shark. I actually solved it with x and (1-x) reversed, then screwed up the transcription. The real series should be 1 + x + x^2 + . . . which does indeed equal 1/(1-x). You're sure to get one flip with k tails, if that is a head (probability x) you'll get a second, if the first two are heads (probability x^2) you'll get a third, and so on.
