Yes thats what I would do, racing against the leader is a good idea because he will open very light.

And your play is pretty marginal, isolation plays work alot better in holdem bacause in omaha there are far more tempting hands to race with for villians.

And the AJJ5 hand is a difficult one, very read dependent.
Whatever you did with it it was probably the right choice.
