So, if you're a 26 and the final holes are each a stroke hole, you bogey them all...if one is a double stroke hole, you double bogey it. It doesn't matter if you're a 26 and -8 for the day, you still have to assume you play to your cap.

Exactly. I remember the rule used to be that you could go down to 12 holes (and "handicap finish" the rest). You can combine two nine hole rounds.
