Even if villain is a relatively frequent 3 bettor I have a feeling the extra money lost from having to fold pf with the larger raise is more than made up for by having more money in the pot when you see a flop. There is also the possibility that a smaller raise means getting 3 bet more often since the villain can 3 bet smaller.
