the downside is being wrong and eliminating yourself from getting hunted
also, if you decide to fake with some villagers, I think you need to incorporate some amount of hinting at wolves too, like I did with Alex D1 this game. You don't necessarily have to say "i peeked xxx as a wolf" in order to fake with them.
