I got a lot of fun out of
ADOM, a roguelike roleplaying game. Very, very ornate; one thing I like about it compared to a bunch of others is that you can carry around absurdly huge inventories, so you can stockpile all kinds of items that have only very specific uses. If you can find it at the webpage, I'd try and hunt down version 1.0.0, or whatever it was. 1.1 was a change for the worse, and that was a few years ago. I haven't played any since.
