Whether I know what's going on with this stuff or not it's kind of clear that they actually DO work.

They tried another one of these 'upgrades' and it sounded like the whole thing was practically exploding.

Now, if from their end it seems like they are practically holding this together with a string and some duct-tape (a MILLION uses for ducky-tape!!!) and they know it just won't be able to handle the increasing load then obviously some changes need to be made.

And they also seem pretty unsatisfied with the 'old-school' (to put it politely) look of the place.

But overall it does seem to work just fine and dandy.
Evidence:
yet another one of my 24k+ posts.
I type it up, click the button to post it, and it actually goes up on the little forum thingee.
Yes, it really does work!!!

If it works then don't fix it. Seems to me the forums were working fine. I didn't see any "must have" features in the new version that would justify the upgrade. The only important thing on any forum is speed. When things are fast then other user interface issues can be justified. My time is limited and I don't and won't accept having to wait 5 minutes to open a new post.

edit: I'm also peeved because some posts I made yesterday and today are gone because of the rollback. Now I won't get replies that I was looking forward to reading. Entire threads are gone. This is the kind of crap that will kill off a good forum. As a systems administrator I am surprised that load testing was not built into the rollout test period.
