Thus he was not in position to release and get downcourt ahead of everyone else.

I wasn't endorsing the runout theory for just this reason...I mean, I endorse the runout theory in general, mainly because it allows[ed] me to get many layups, but obviously it's tough to run out from under your own hoop.
