it's tough. hand reading is the paramount skill and quite difficult to learn. when i'm tired i struggle with it sometimes, even against very familiar opponents.
practice is the biggest help. also study betting patterns. e.g., guy raises preflop, half-pots the flop, then checks the turn chances are he has nothing or a pair and will not call two big barrels.
