Default Re: Unreal, just unreal

As fun as the needling is, in the interest of helping out one of the stud brotherhood, it's worth addressing the root of ThePeanutFlush's inquiry: He can't believe anybody would call a bet from open trips on the end. The pot is so huge from all the optimistic play and bluster earlier in the hand that any made hand beating your board is going to want to see the cards at the end, and any hand with a draw to a boat will take the river card.

If the hand had been played cheaply, then making bets on the expensive streets would reduce the opponents' odds enough that many hands would fold a small pot that might call in a big pot. Since it was obvious early in the hand that it wouldn't be a small pot, you had great reason to ditch your bags early: Dudes want to see the river in big pots, where your only way to win is with the best hand, and you are miles from there.
