Look...all of you people with your arguments of EV such and such..and shortstack etc and taking away his depth and all this other technical mumbo jumbo...nobody has addressed the INDISPUTABLE fact that mikech provided with his example:

you guys are crazy. it's like the time on "high stakes poker" when brad booth bought in for a coooool million. he had nothing and phil ivey had pocket kings, he just shoved all-in with his massive stack and ivey had to fold. prima facie evidence right there.

[/ QUOTE ]

In case you haven't seen the hand, Brad Booth bought in for a cool million and when Phil Ivey picked up KK, Brad Booth raised to a million on the flop in a 300/600NL game and Ivey really couldn't do anything but fold to the big stack. If a player like PHIL IVEY is at a disadvantage vs someone who buys in for a good deep healthy amount, then how can you shortstacks think buying into a 5/10nl for 1k is normal and doesn't place you at an immediate disadvantage?

[/ QUOTE ]

Please think about this.

What if Brad had started the hand with exactly the same number of chips as Phil? They saw the flop, and Brad bets all in. Could Phil call then? How is his decision any different than in the situation you mentioned? He is still being put to a decision for all his chips.
