It is early morning, late in the Spring, and the Simpson household is in an uproar. Marge has just returned home from a 72 hour gambling binge at Burns' Casino. After a bad run at slots, she decided that Martingaling blackjack was the way to ROBUSTO. Sadly, she is now BUSTO. But not just any BUSTO - Mafia BUSTO. After noticing that she had booked a large loss at slots, Frankie the Squealer loaned Marge $75,000 to get back even. This is what she took to the tables, and this is what she lost.
Now, Fat Tony & his thugs want their money back. They've given Marge 12 hours to come up with the $75,000, and the time is now up.
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
Homer: Who's there?
Muffled voices: Goons
Homer: Goons who?
Muffled voices: Hired goons. Open up!
Homer opens the door, and sees Fat Tony with his cronies Legs & Louie. In the yard is Frankie the Squealer & Johnny Tightlips. Snake, the newest member of the gang, is driving their getaway car.
Fat Tony: You owe me some money. $75,000, to be exact.
Homer: Well, here's the thing... we don't have it.
Fat Tony: We gave you 12 hours to get the money. The 12 hours is up. We would like our money.
Homer: Here's $4, and a donut.
Fat Tony: Thank you. Now, give me $74,996. Or we will take your daughter. If you haven't paid us by tonight, we will kill your family.
And with that, Legs & Louie bust in to the house, and grab little Maggie Simpson. After buckling her safely in her car seat, they drive off.
Shortly afterwards, the Simpsons receive a phone call from the Nuclear plant. The plant is closed today, due to the grusome deaths of Lenny Leonard, Carl Carlson, and Frank Grimes. Lenny & Carl were jammed in to a Radiation suit, and hung over the exhaust towers, and were cooked with the exhaust steam. Poor Frank Grimes (better known as "Grimey"), was pushed in to a transformer, seemingly by accident, as the crane that was used to hoist Lenny & Carl over the exhaust towers drove by.

In light of the days events, Mayor Quimby has chosen to address the citizens of Springfield.
Mayor Quimby: Citizens of Springfield. Today, we have had two separate tragedies. The kidnapping of a small child by a an alleged organized crime gang, and the killings of 3 workers at our Nuclear Power Plant by a mad Serial Killer. As your mayor, I request that our police force, and citizens, do whatever possible to locate these individuals, and bring them to justice.
Sadly, I have a ... erm... conference to attend in Tahiti, so will be unable to assist in the search. Worry not taxpayers, the trip is being paid for by Fat Tony... I mean, Uncle Sam. That's right, the Federal Government is paying. My days of raiding the treasury are past, now that I have another source of income.
From the crowd, a voice is heard. It is your most respected citizen, Zurvan. He tells you this:
You have among you 6 mafia members. You must locate them, and remove them from your midst. You have a police force to assist you, but be warned - they are rather boobish, and may not be entirely effective in locating Mafia. Among you are citizens with many skills that may be used to help you on your way.
There are many plots afoot today in Springfield. Selected members of your community are trying to protect you. Be warned - what they do is in your best interests, but it may not seem like it. Be cautious with your accusations - your fate may rest in the hands of one who is accused.
The Simpson family is being hunted by the Mafia. They are currently in hiding, for their own protection. If they reveal themselves publicly, they will be murdered instantly. If any of you is foolish enough to say you are a Simpson, you will be murdered instantly.
At that moment, a shot rings out in the Springfield sky. A woman screams, and Zurvan falls to his death, killed by a sniper.
Citizens of Springfield, avenge Zurvan. Rescue Maggie Simpson. Protect your wondeful city from the dirty bastards among you.
