This article would be fascinating if it was true. Ian Restil never existed and the author Stephen Glass was fired after being exposed for fabricating it. The New Republic was brought down by this article, and what followed afterwards.
That was the point. The similarities just seemed so relevant with what is happening at the moment I just couldn't resist bringing this up.
