Hoss, since OP is asking about NLHE I am wondering why you are suggesting a roll of only 300XBB instead of 500XBB or 1000XBB?
I guess my reasoning behind this question is just because OP does not intend to buy in at Max buy-in to me only means he will not reap the rewards of well played hands when the pot is large. I cannot see how this will save him money although it may allow him to lose it more slowly on his bad plays/beats.
I also buy-in on some games for minimum when I am playing Multi table ring NL games. I use this strategy when I do not have time to follow the rounds, watching players, pay attention running a HUD, and only play to see the flop. Once I go all-in there the rest is just history, I win or I lose. So even minimum buy in can have some huge swings when you multi table with this strategy. I know this is not what OP is doing but just wanted to make the comment.
