Here's a hand from today's session. Without a read on a player, I'm of the snapcall variety for stacks of 100bb, larger than that and I'll consider folding hands like the one OP had. I just think these calls are largely read dependent. I have been known to make plays like the one villain made in the OP sporadically, but I have to have a real strong read that my opponent will call with an overpair and I'm much more likely to do it with a set than the straight.
