Im currently recovering from a badly sprained ankle that I did, then redid a few weeks ago playing soccer. The physio has me doing a few simple exercises to strengthen the joint.

First balance on that leg and slowly dip by bending your knee, just go up and down slow and controlled. The best one is simply standing on a soft surface - carpet or grass, whatever - and balancing on that leg, knee slightly bent, with your eyes closed. Because your eyes are closed it is much harder to balance so your leg and ankle is working very hard to stabilise, it sounds a bit funny but it definitely works.

Also, hes recommended that I start running in sand at the beach, if you dont already have an existing injury that might be your best method, its a good way to get fit too.
