Default Re: 2 pair on 4th street in Stud Hi/Lo. Uncomfortable playing high ha

[ QUOTE ]
Maybe this is a fold on third (I am not an authority on Stud Hi/Lo), but since when would having a multitude of opponents trying for low be an argument against staying in? They're holding each others' outs, giving you better odds, and fighting for the same half of the pot. Seems like you should be more inclined to play this hand if more villains are clearly trying to make a low...

[/ QUOTE ]

Wrong; that would be correct if your opponents held one way hands like 732, but more lows means that there are more straight draws out against you, and with a weak made hand you are very vulnerable to losing the maximum. You lucked out this time, but the 90% of the time you don't improve on 4th you won't know what to do.

[ QUOTE ]
Here's a simple example to illustrate the point: if there are 3 aces showing, it is more likely that someone at the table is holding a pair of aces than if only 2, 1, or no aces are showing.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty certain that's dead wrong; with three aces out, the chance of aces should be less than if 2 aces are out. 2 aces maximizes the chance of a pair of aces. Also, someone having a completely dead pair of aces is not as big of a deal as a live pair.
